Jerry has dedicated his life to public service and community. Now retired from his career in recreation leadership, he wants to give back to the city that has given his family so much.
On Election Day, choose Jerry Peterson — a trusted neighbor, a dedicated leader, and a lifelong advocate for families and communities.
St. Louis Park and Family
Jerry has been deeply involved in the St. Louis Park community. He served on youth baseball, football, and basketball boards, and spent years coaching young athletes. He also volunteered regularly in schools, reading to children when his own kids were growing up.
Jerry and his wife, Beth (Schulenberg) Peterson, have been married for 36 years. They raised four of their seven children here in St. Louis Park, and today four of their adult children live in the city with their own families. Jerry and Beth are proud grandparents to eight grandchildren, two of whom attend St. Louis Park public schools. Their family also includes two golden doodles, Stella and Nashville.
Public Service
Jerry Peterson has called St. Louis Park home for 26 years. He grew up in Albert Lea, Minnesota, and graduated from Albert Lea High School before earning his B.A. in Organizational Leadership/Studies from Bethel University.
For 39 years, Jerry served the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board before retiring in 2025. His career included roles as Teen Outreach Worker, Recreation Supervisor, and Recreation Area Manager. Along the way, he worked with thousands of volunteers, supervised more than 100 full-time staff, and mentored over 1,000 part-time employees.
Today, Jerry works in sales at Bloomington Acura/Subaru — but his heart remains in public service.
